What Does OLPA Do?
The NSTA Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA) strives to keep NSTA members, teachers, science education leaders, and the general public informed about key science education issues and legislation. In the association’s role as the national voice for science education, its OLPA team actively promotes NSTA’s positions on science education issues, communicates key NSTA messages to essential audiences, and conveys policy recommendations to government leaders. OLPA aims to help increase funding for science and math education programs and works with legislators, staff, and other advocates on STEM-related legislation and policy issues.
Kate Falk serves as Senior Manager, Public Relations; and Jodi Peterson as Assistant Executive Director for the NSTA Office of Legislative and Public Affairs.
