Some Do’s and Don’ts

Do make sure to make your reservation through the The Housing Connection/NSTA to get the special conference hotel rates. Making reservations through the hotel directly, or through a central hotel reservation number, will not guarantee that you receive the NSTA discounted rates.

Do make your hotel reservation as soon as possible. Hotels fill up fast, and reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. For best availability, make your reservation online.

Do not fax your Housing Request Form to NSTA. In particular, some people have sent a Housing Request Form along with their conference registration. This will delay the processing of your hotel reservation.

Hotels do not accept Purchase Orders for deposits or payment of hotel rooms.

If it is necessary that you cancel your reservation, do so as soon as possible to avoid penalty.

Ground Transportation from the Airport

A variety of transportation options are available from the airport to downtown Boston. Vist the Logan International Airport website for a comprehensive list of ground transportation options.

Taxi Service from Logan Airport

Taxis are available at Logan terminals 24 hours a day. All taxis going downtown are charged a metered rate, and all fares are based on the occupancy of one to four passengers per taxi. All fares leaving Logan Airport are charged a $2.25 airport fee, and travel through the harbor tunnels will cost an additional $4.50 toll fee. It is recommended that you ask the taxi driver for a receipt showing the driver’s name, the taxi company, the amount paid, and the medallion number. An average cost for taxi service is $20–28.

Shuttle Bus Service from Logan Airport

The majority of Boston hotels do not provide shuttle service to/from Logan Airport. However, there are several independent companies that conduct regular service between Logan and most hotels. The one-way charge is typically $14–18.

Shy to Fly?

Consider the following …

Take the Train. Amtrak serves Boston to points south and west from South Station on Atlantic Avenue (BOS) and from Back Bay Station on Dartmouth (BBY), and serves points north from North Station on Causeway Street (BON). For scheduling and fare information, visit Amtrak online or call 800-USA-RAIL.

Drive. The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) is centrally located right in the heart of Boston—easily accessible from the airport and major highways and roads. For detailed driving directions, visit BCEC’s helpful website.

Getting Around Town

The MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority)—usually referred to as the “T”—runs daily service on buses, trains, and trolleys throughout Boston and surrounding towns. T stations can be identified by a black “T” on a white circular sign. Tokens can be bought at booths at each station. Visit www.mbta.com to find out more.

Parking

Valet parking ($20) is available via Summer Street. To access valet parking, turn onto East Side Drive and the valet area will be immediately on your right. To self park ($10), drive past valet and continue straight along the side of the building. At the end of the building, make a right and go down the ramp. The South Parking Lot entrance is at the bottom of the ramp on your left.

NSTA Shuttle Bus

Free shuttle service is provided between the BCEC and NSTA hotels, except for those hotels within walking distance. Click here for a tentative schedule and a list of shuttle routes.
