Nature of Science: A Way of Thinking

This strand will help teachers gain an understanding of the nature of science, with an emphasis on discriminating between what science is and what it is not. Science is a way of understanding the natural world based on the use of inquiry, empirical standards, logical arguments, and critical thinking. Science is not based on myths, personal beliefs, religious values, mystical inspiration, superstition, or authority, all of which may be personally useful and socially relevant but are not scientific.
