NSTA International

Global Conversations in Science Education Conference

To connect science educators from various countries, NSTA holds annual international conferences in conjunction with its national conference (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011). Plans are currently underway for 2012 at NSTA’s National Conference on Science Education in Indianapolis, Indiana, March 29–April 1, 2012.

The Global Conversations Conference recognizes NSTA’s increased emphasis on international collaboration in science education. There are numerous opportunities for international visitors to network together with science educators from various cultures, including those from North America.

Activities for 2012 begin on Wednesday, March 28, with a President's International Reception for all international visitors and invited guests that evening. On Thursday, March 29, the day commences with a plenary session followed by concurrent sessions related to the conference theme. A full complement of papers will be presented in a poster session, followed by a luncheon plenary speaker and a panel discussion. The day will conclude with short presentations from participants on current trends, issues, and best practices from around the world. On Friday, March 30, there will be "Welcome to My Classroom" sessions highlighting classrooms from around the world.

The ultimate goal of all NSTA international activities is to engage more American teachers of science in international opportunities with the intent that they will become better teachers in their own classrooms and better impart the global dimensions of science to their students.
