This international event commemorates the beginning of the Space Age with the launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957. WSW occurs October 4-10 annually. Teachers are encouraged to use space-themed activities in the classroom to promote student interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Teachers can download free space activities from the websites of major space agencies, many other space organizations, and from WSW Association.
