A Cloudy Day is an informational book on weather that is truly appropriate for early primary students. It features 16 pages of full-color weather photographs with one short sentence of first-grade text per page. There are five highlighted vocabulary words with a picture and sentence glossary and a simple index. Three informational pages on types of clouds and cloudy day facts could challenge better readers or be read aloud.

Each book in the Lerner First Step Weather series comes in an inexpensive paperbound format or a higher-priced library binding. All the books are easy to read and informational, and I especially liked the glossary and index for this grade level. This would be a great resource to have in the classroom. Our kindergarten curriculum emphasizes weather patterns, and I plan to use this book to supplement our lessons.
