In each book in this series, children learn how we discover things about our world. The books show diverse methods of science as they are used in different fields, and they allow divergent learners to imagine themselves in those roles.
In this book, readers learn how engineers use the knowledge they gain to enhance our lives. Because engineering is rarely a focus of the theoretical science we teach, this is a valuable reading experience. There are glimpses of what aerospace, chemical, software, and other engineers do in their daily work to enhance our economy and quality of life.
As in all books in the series, the pictures in this particular book are captivating and the captions are informative. The book's organization makes interesting sections easy to find. The examples used are really kid-friendly and authentic, and readers considering future careers will find lists of qualities required in particular areas of science. There are also recommendations for steps they can take toward entering the career. This is a book (and series) that I can highly recommend.
