Reviewed by Coralee Smith Associate Professor Elementary Education and Reading This product presents factual, introductory information about food chains and food webs for young eco–scientists. It could be just the springboard for launching more in–depth, grand science discussions and for students just beginning their exploration of food chains and food webs. The video provides a convenient way for teachers to begin their students’ investigation of the interconnectivity of food webs and chains by showing quality video clips of the actual webs and chains. The accurate examples in the video are easily recognized by viewers so that the concepts of food chains and webs activate the students’ prior knowledge, while at the same time provide “food for thought” for those students who “want–to–know” more. There are many sources available on this topic; the photography in this product will make it stand out. As with many VEA products, there are also great support notes for teachers to make the video experience more effective. Review posted on 9/14/2012
