"Knuckles whitening...5...4...Rockets roaring...3...2...1...Spaceship soaring." Full page illustrations and "jump–from–your–seat" poetry will grab every young listener. The relationship between text and images feeds the imagination. Close your eyes and imagine Earth dropping away like a "basketball...baseball...golfball...marble..."

Extensive, accurate sidebars describe the physics and astronomy for the teacher or mentor to share. The author of this NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book does an amazing job engaging the reader in the world of poetry while using the sidebars to provide factual information. Children learn about our solar system and space exploration in a way that is accessible for them.

This picture book is a brilliant example of how poetry and informational text can support each other. The illustrations allow the reader to be a part of the experience. It is an excellent classroom resource.
