This NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book for 2009 combines the outstanding photography readers have come to associate with National Geographic with observations on habitats, adaptations, and behaviors that will enhance any biology or ecology unit. This book contains firsthand information and photographs provided by the authors, who have observed lions “face-to-face.”

Readers will have renewed respect for the role of the nature photographer turned wildlife biologist. Conservation messages about lions and their habitats are included to provide a complete picture of the species in its habitat.
