This moving story about the behavior of mountain gorillas is an NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book for 2009. It illustrates the bond uniting a family of mountain gorillas as they search for a missing family member. New research and curricula on animal behavior are well-supported by this beautiful and accurate book.

The text is supported by detailed photographs that might be used by students to inquire and make observations on their own. The relationship among the rangers and mountain gorillas is a testament to the efforts to protect these animals. Readers who may have read of the tragic losses of mountain gorillas as a result of human conflicts in their habitats will be especially impressed by this book.
