This NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book for 2011 looks at the human body from many perspectives. Big and detailed,  this ambitious volume examines human evolution, anatomy, function, reproduction, and disease in an orderly, up-to-the-minute visual format. Its "coffee table" format makes it ideal for a center, a featured volume in a library, or a reference that might be used again and again by students.

The book's double-page illustrations go far beyond the normal anatomy book; micrographs and comparisions between reflexes and computer chips give the reader an edgy, state-of-the-art appearance. A DVD enhances the book's potential to be used again and again in a curriculum that includes life science and health. Its glossary and index make it useful as a starting point for student projects and research papers as well.
