by: Brian R. Shmaefsky, Timothy D. Shmaefsky, and Kathleen M. Shmaefsky

The activity described in this article will demonstrate the role of mobile phase polarity on the separation of dyes having different solubilities in polar and nonpolar solutions. A paper chromatography system is used in this demonstration for simplicity and speed. It also models the same principles of low-pressure and high-performance liquid column chromatography.
