This article is written for the college level instructor and covers the following: philosophy of science, science versus non-science and pseudoscience, falsification versus inductivism, problems of assumptions, importance of mechanism, progress in science, scientific design framework, and scientific ethics. There is a table (Table 1) presented that summarizes the course objectives and implementation plan. The article also presents a research plan for helping college level undergraduate students prepare for a research science track in graduate studies or research. However, while the article is written for college instructors, there is a great deal of information within the article that would benefit the middle grades and high school level teachers. A solid understanding of expectations at the college level in science will help teachers design lessons that are more effective at preparing students for similar courses.
