The author of this article likes to use comics in several locations during her class. The first one is an attention getter at the beginning of a lesson. The second one is at a transition point from one topic to another. Comics can also be used to see if the students are paying attention. The author suggests locations to start collecting comics and how to present them to the students. This sounds like a good idea but it would take time to collect enough comics for specific topics if you teach general science.

The author's idea presented in this article of using comic strips as a "brain break" during lecturing or a conversation starter is very engaging. I am inspired to start collecting comics that are relevant to my curriculum. I can see using comics would add personality and warmth to my classroom.
