[email protected]. stated succinctly the disconnect between college professors and K-12 teachers in terms of communication. This diconnect referenced in the article basically has to do with responding to the audience. Academic papers written by college professor at the cutting edge of research are apparently meant for their tribe and not for K-12 teachers. Hence for their to be feedback and closure in the communication process, the professors have to speak the dialect of their tribe, leaving the K-12 teachers who, invariably ought to be the end-users of their product at a loss. I propose that to bridge the communication gap, there should be a movement to the center by both parties and this can be achieved by K-12 stepping up their game in terms of professional development that has elements of academic paper language and the college professors also taking time out to observe K-12 teachers in their classrooms and facilitating professional developments.
