This article is a great resource for Spanish books for young readers. Spanish readers, just like English readers, are eager to learn about the world and are always curious. This article gives so many amazing Spanish books that discuss all different kinds of topics. The books that are suggested have a lot of bright colors and eye grabbing illustrations that will draw the attention of young readers. This article is beneficial in more ways that one! One of the reasons being that English Language learners have books that they can fully read while in the classroom. It is so important as an ELL teacher to, of course, teach them the English language effectively, but to also embrace the students roots, and never let them forget where they came from. Books like these are great for Spanish speaking students who are learning English. These books can give them a small taste of their own culture, home, and just where they come from! It is a little reminder that we do not want to wipe them of their roots. However, you must be careful if this is how you plan to include Spanish books. If the goal of the ELL teacher is to teach English to the student, it would not be beneficial to have them read Spanish books all the time. It would be best to not overdo it! Next, these are great books to bring into an elementary school classroom for the opposite reason! They are great for English speaking students to learn Spanish with. Especially the very beginner ones such as opposites, shapes, colors, and numbers. They will be able to read and learn the basics, and eventually be able to move onto the more advanced Spanish books they suggested. It is important for students to learn about other languages and where other people come from, because they could have a classmate from there, cultural awareness is everything. It teaches acceptance at a young age and will also make learning a new language fun with all of the illustrations and colors.
