Most nature of science standards address older students’ grades 5 and up. However, it is important to working with elementary students (Grades K-4) to help students understand the nature of science as a human endeavor. This article talks about seven misconceptions middle school students have related to this major concept that could be reduced by exposing the lower elementary students to the human aspect of science. This article explains some ways in which to do this. This is an interesting concept and one that would work in all grades as well.
