Quest stands for “Quality Elementary Science Teaching”. Elementary teachers and special education teachers spent two weeks in a summer participating in a three year program which helped participating educators to improve their understanding of physical science concepts and pedagogical strategies such as inquiry and formative assessment. Teachers became learners and participated in 5E lesson cycles. Then they became facilitators for inquiry. Their newfound understandings were they applied in the classroom the following year. This sounds like an excellent summer professional development experience.
