A student’s success is not based on the product of others. The article presents a standards-based science fair rubric for grades 4–6. One of the most difficult aspects of breaking the traditional science fair mold is convincing parents that the model volcano laden science fairs they remember are not always the best for learning. This article lays out such a great case for bringing inquiry into science fairs, that I often share it with parents who are having a difficult time accepting change.
