Four groups came together containing teachers, the PTA representative, the school principal, the district’s science supervisor, and a university professor came together to develop elementary science programming. This group decided to have a night of star gazing. The agenda and time frame for this event is provided with input and duties of different groups. This is something that might be easily replicated in any elementary school.

Don't be fooled by the title. This science night is a broad partnership that brings together community groups, academic institutions, parents and students. Relationships that start with science night continue into enduring productive partnerships that engage all. Students present projects, pre certification teachers present mini-lessons, a local astronomy club models lifelong engagement with science , the PTA reaches out to parents and the whole community benefits.
