Beginning with the quote, “In an effective classroom, students should not only know what they are doing, they should also know why and how. by Harry Wong”, the author states that teachers that provide three interrelated components in their classrooms, will be more successful in providing an effective learning environment. These three elements or components are; classroom management, classroom organization, and discipline. The author gives a brief description of what each component consists of and explains that the effective teacher will know the meaning and importance of each component. If not attained early, the absence of good management and organization will interfere with everything from organizing a lab to even getting students to comply with directions for everyday actions and activities. This is a great short article to refresh experienced teachers and a great “starter” article for a novice teacher.
