This series of learning cycle lessons allows students to explore their understanding of what a rock is and to engage them with daily inquiries about rocks, rock vocabulary, and activities. The activities simulate actual rock processes to develop understanding of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rock. Embedded assessment, which uses information from previous lessons, asks students to identified actual rock samples.
