Teachers in upper elementary grades need to read this. Dr. Robertson carefully and clearly describes, starting with hands on activities and scaffolds them into the more abstract symbols and formulas teachers envision when the word "calculus" is mentioned. Even the most math phobic teacher will be able to follow the authors description of how calculus is used in the classroom. And the students would love to do the activities that were shown in the article, possibly creating a more positive attitude towards math. I loved this article and hope it is read, especially by teachers that do not think they can "do math".

Only Bill Robertson can take a complicated subject and make it understandable!! Who would think that calculus could be explained in such a simple matter as it is in this article? A lot of elementary teachers would just skip this article because it says “Calculus”!! Oh no, not me!! But it is a great read to understand the basics of calculus.
