This is a fascinating article where students are introduced to the concept of form and function through an examination of brain structure from various animals and then asked to create a brain for an animal they create using those concepts. While this really doesn’t fall into my middle level curriculum, I can see this as an interesting lesson when there is extra time to reinforce form and function while studying systems in organisms. I see this lesson as being very useful in a biology or anatomy/human physiology class (or, of course zoology). All the websites provided work but one and they have wonderful resources to support the lesson.
