This is an interesting article that shows how a teacher with budget constraints assigned students in a small class to the construction of specific sized paper presentation of elements with the goal to create a student generated large displayable periodic table of elements. The teacher provides the assignment given to the students in the article as well as a rubric for grading each of the elements. This is an interesting and useful mini assignment that gives students ownership and knowledge of aspects of the periodic table and the elements they are investigating. The author provides an image of the final compiled table and of an element a student completed. Great idea!

I am going to implement this lesson within my curriculum next week. I am curious as to how the students will respond. My Pre-AP students are using the guidelines of the periodic table but are using their own items.
