This is a very thorough lesson presentation, which uses Google Earth to teach Earth Science concepts. My only concern in implementing this lesson plan is the potential lack of working technology in some classrooms. The author does suggest that the work could be completed on one computer with an LCD projector. However, I think the greatest benefit would be gained through direct student interaction with the materials. If technology is a concern, I would consider using "students groups" - where one laptop or PC is used by a group of students. Students could share the technology and the work within the lesson. I am considering trying this lesson/unit plan next year. It would be a great fit for 7th grade Earth Science.

There are some unique ideas for using Google Earth in the classroom. The article held my interest, but found myself asking a lot of questions wondering “How did they do that?” With some exploration, I found I could navigate Google Earth to get it to do what I wanted, but it took a little bit. I think a lot of my dilemma’s came from being only slightly familiar with Google Earth, those more proficient could probably navigate the activities more quickly. I have to admit, I am amazed at how much more there is to Google Earth than I knew.
