There are so many new Web 2.0 tools available to use in the classroom that one can actually get lost in all the different ones. If not lost certainly confused deciding which one is the best. This article deals with an older one called ‘Voice Thread.’ This tool can be used to create a collaborative, multimedia slide show with images, documents and videos. What made this unique at the time is the ability to allow students to develop voice responses to shared information. The body of the article explains how it can be used with samples of applications of this unique tool. This seems like a very useful tool and allows these products to be placed in the Cloud.

“Voice Thread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents and videos, and allows people to navigate slides and leave comments several ways.” This article does an exceptional job of taking you through a variety of ideas for using a voice thread in your own classroom. I like the fact there is more than one way to access the tool – using voice either by a telephone or microphone, text, audio file or video.
I am intrigued with “Video Doodling”, since this is a new idea to me. The thought that you could draw on top of the media as you record your comments opens whole new avenues for students to share their work, “showing viewers your thoughts in action.” I spent quite a bit of time on Voice Threads home page and gathered lots of ideas that could be used in my middle school classroom.
