Sharing both the triumphs and failures of science helps students understand its true nature. Teachers should challenge students to confront the scientific enterprise in its entirety. In doing so, teachers move toward achieving science education's important aims—promote critical thinking abilities, democratic citizenship, and an understanding of the nature of science.
