A Community of Learners

On the coldest day in the winter of 2000, a group of dedicated, excited high school students congregated at a research arboretum to meet Kevin Czajkowski, a geography professor from The University of Toledo. The professor had invited the class to participate in a project researching global change. The ensuing program built a relationship between the research scientist, students, and teacher that has lasted to this day. Students gained experience in data collection, the teacher benefited from professional development in remote sensing technology, and the scientist received assistance gathering satellite data.
