The Invasive Plant Species Education Guide was designed for teachers to help their students understand the importance of biodiversity and reclaim areas where biodiversity is threatened. I plan to use this curriculum throughout the year in my biology class. I will modify the forest odyssey lesson since my school is in a tall grass prairie ecosystem. Other than that minor modification, I will use the curriculum in its entirety. I love the balance between field work and classwork.

This article summarizes nine lab activities designed to teach students about invasive species. The nine activities include readings by Aldo Leopold, cycling of atoms, photosynthesis, adaptation, identification, and gps use. The unit concludes with students creating and carrying out an action plan with members of the community who assist in removing invasives from critical local habitat. The lab activities are supported by an extensive web site.
