This article discusses a different approach to introducing biological phenomenon. Using various arguments as a context for introducing the vocabulary provides a different approach. Students are presented with a problem or biological situation that can be understood with real data. But first they must create an explanation for the situation and use data to prove or disprove their hypothesis. This technique integrates conceptual content with opportunities for scientific reasoning and argumentation. This is a great way to show introduce students with an opportunity to think like a scientist. The only problem is finding more data examples than the two presented.
