If you have never looked at Google Earth then this article is for you. This article is a Google Earth 101 or an introduction to Google Earth. Specifically the article addresses the use of layers in the software that allows the user to look at volcanoes, earthquakes, the Ocean Atlas, Conditions and Forecasts for weather information, and something called Gigapan. Just playing with the app is a fun experience and one that students will enjoy when investigating various Earth and environmental conditions.

This article is a quick read, but jam packed with great information about using Google Earth. Before reading this article, I didn't realize all of the different layers that Google Earth contains. I'm excited about trying out some of these ideas with my students. I can already imagine their excitement as they apply layers like volcanoes!
