This article describes an authentic data collecting opportunity in which students examined wildlife photos taken from motion-sensitive cameras. Although this activity was conducted with the Rocky Mountain Cat Conservancy, teachers may be able to connect with their local state or national park to investigate the possibility of partnering to conduct a similar activity. Funding for motion-sensitive cameras and placing cameras in an area where they would not be vandalized are issues that would need to be addressed.
