Dr. Roy shares timely advice on what to do if one finds his/her science lab crammed with too many students to safely conduct experiments. Besides the fact that a building code or fire code might be in violation, the teacher and students are being placed in harm’s way. The teacher has a legal responsibility (duty of care) to secure a safe instructional environment. If the lab is overcrowded, activities may have to be eliminated.
