This article is describing what graphs actually represent. The point I believe the author is trying to make is that students need to see graphs more in depth as to what they represent. There is a lengthy discussion of graphing narrow and wide rectangles that I found a bit confusing. The last examples of graphs with sinkers and floaters is eaiser to understand.
