Are you having difficulty keeping up with the changes occurring as they relate to information about the MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheets) sheets? This article summarizes what one needs to know and be able to do. By June 1, 2015, all chemistry labs need to have switched out MSDS libraries with newer GHS/SDS (Global Harmonized System/Safety Data Sheets) systems. This article shares the user-friendly, 16-section format of these newer sheets, and it reminds one to consult with the CHO (Chemical Hygiene Officer) to make sure that schools and school districts are in compliance with OSHA requirements when it comes to safely using, storing, and disposing of chemicals.
