For many students learning about large global processes like ocean acidification can be difficult. They struggle to identify the organisms most at risk and the short-term and long-term consequences to both living things as well as their habitat. I liked that this unit helped students determine the stakeholders affected by increasing acid levels in the ocean. For teachers not well versed in the problem, a script was given to use with their classes. Students also were given scaffolding to help them explore the effects that a continued increase in ocean acidification may have on the environment.
