Balanced Breakfast Box

by: Bruce Yeany

This chapter provides the opportunity for students to observe the breakfast box sitting in plain view on a shelf, table, window ledge or in any other position that is remote enough to keep anyone from accidentally bumping against it. The box is unusual in that it is positioned with three-fourths of the box hanging over the edge and just one corner supporting it. Why doesn't the box fall? This prop lends itself to discussions about levers or the center of gravity.
