Teachers often want to incorporate their students’ cultural resources into the curriculum but do not know how. This case study describes what teachers participating in the Funds of Knowledge for Teaching Project, based at the University of Arizona, do to learn about the bodies of knowledge their students routinely use at home. It tells the story of how one teacher, Cathy Amanti, used her students’ knowledge of horses to design an interdisciplinary unit of study.
