My Science Professional Learning Community, PLC, used this book chapter as a starting point for discussions around how we are using technology, specifically computers, in the Science classroom. We were disappointed computers were the only technology discussed and it didn’t really focus on Science as much as we would have liked. We were in agreement that computers lend themselves to data collection and communication. We set as one of our SMART goals for the upcoming year, that technology use should be used only when “It encourages deeper student engagement with Science content” and support strengthening student understanding.
