Linking Assessment To Student Achievement In A Professional Development Model

by: Janet L. Struble, Mark A. Templin, and Charlene M. Czerniak

This chapter reviews assessment as a key component in a professional development model implemented in a National Science Foundation–funded program entitled Toledo Area Partnership in Education: Support Teachers as Resources to Improve Elementary Science. The chapter provides background information about the project and the authors describe the role that assessment plays in each of the four phases that make up the Haney-Lampe professional development model (Haney and Lampe 1995), which provided the project’s framework.
