This story poses a challenge to solve the mystery of light, color, and how we see color. It also asks the question, “What is color?” After investigating the phenomena of color and color filters, students should realize that light is made up of many colors in our visible spectrum and our eyes and brain contribute to the process of “seeing” color. There is a secondary and broader purpose in this story as well—to help students understand that we see things, no matter how shiny or dull they are, by light that is reflected from the objects to our eyes.
