Science as Inquiry at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute

by: Doug Jones, Cynthia Kaplanis, Wayne Melville, and Anthony Bartley
edited by: Robert E. Yager

As a department, the science teachers at Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate and Vocational Institute share a common commitment to the ideals of teaching of science as inquiry. As individuals, they also have the flexibility to teach in ways that reflect their strengths as teachers. As a result, their students practice the skills and understandings of inquiry, have ownership of their learning, have a deeper understanding of the conceptual nature of the curriculum, and possess a strategy that will continue to produce solutions to both science and other problem-based scenarios throughout their lives.
