Science education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education are often used interchangeably. As science educators in search of our place in STEM education, we face a professional identity crisis. In this chapter, the authors tackle the dilemma of how we retain our goals for strong science education while recognizing and acknowledging that we are part of a 21st- century community of STEM educators.
