The Nuclear Radiation Evidence

by: Sara McCubbins and Angela Codron

The performance assessment, in this chapter, consists of four parts. In the first part, your students will analyze the soil samples collected at the crime scene and compare them to soil samples from each of the suspects’ shoes. In the second part, your students will compare shoe prints found at the crime scene to the shoes from each of the suspects. In the third part, your students will determine the age of some bones found at the crime scene to determine if any of them came from the victim. Finally, in the fourth part, your students will determine the time of death through the beta decay of the medical tracer found in the victim.
