Purchasing eBooks+

  • Where do I purchase eBooks+?

You can purchase eBooks+ Kids (Grades K-5) and eBooks+ (Grades 6-12) in one of the following ways.

    1. Select here to download a PDF order form. You can fax, mail, phone in, or email your order:
      • Fax: 1-888-433-0526 (US and Canada only)
      • Mail: NSTA, P.O. Box 90214, Washington, DC 20090-0214
      • Phone: 1-800-277-5300 (US and Canada only) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET
      • Email: Send order form or PO to orders@nsta.org
    2. You can also purchase with a credit card by calling 1-800-277-5300 (US and Canada only) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET.

When ordering you will need two email addresses: one is for the order on the NSTA website and the second is an email for administering the school account on the COPPA compliant site. Neither of these emails should be the teacher who will be using the ebooks with her/his students.

  • How do administrators, teachers, and students log in to begin using eBooks+?

Administrator: Once set up in the NSTA Reader system, you will be sent a password for the administrator. You will use the administrator email address and password to assign your teachers their ebooks.

Teacher: Your administrator will assign your username and password. You will log in with this username and password to assign ebooks to your students.

Student: Log in with the username and password assigned to you by your teacher or school administrator.

  • Why does the email address a teacher uses to access student accounts need to be different from the email address used to make purchases on the NSTA website and to view resources in the NSTA Learning Center?

Because we need student ebooks to be COPPA compliant, teachers and administrators using the school eBooks+—eBooks+ Kids (Grades K-5) and eBooks+ (Grades 6-12)with their students must have two separate email addresses: one email to order the ebooks, access the NSTA website, NSTA Learning Center, and their professional learning resources (like eBooks+); and a second email to access school eBooks+ accounts and manage their students' ebooks.

For example: To log in to the NSTA website or NSTA Learning Center, a teacher might log in using the email address teacher@yahoo.com. To log in to the NSTA Reader where his or her students' content is housed, she or he logs in using the account teacher@phs.edu.

They can’t be used offline and usage can’t be tracked.

  • Why can't I log in to the NSTA Reader?

Please recheck your username and password.

If using eBooks+ Professional Learning, make sure you purchase an ebook first. If you try to log into the NSTA Reader app or browser before purchasing your first ebook, the NSTA Reader won't recognize you and won't allow you to log in. Please first purchase an ebook, then log in to the NSTA Reader via the app or a browser.

  • Why can't I see the login screen when viewing the browser on the NSTA Reader?

There are two reasons this may happen.

    • Privacy settings. If you’re viewing the website using your browser's private browsing functionality, the login screen may fail to appear.
    • A firewall may block access to certain content. Make sure that your firewall allows access to the following URLs:

  • Why isn't my ebook downloading onto my tablet?

You selected the download button for an ebook but the ebook does not seem to be downloading or you get an error message while downloading. Check the amount of space you have on your tablet. Each ebook takes between 200 and 350 mb of space. If your tablet is getting low on space, you may not be able to download an ebook until other content is removed or archived. To archive eBooks+, select the filing box icon beneath an ebook in the library and you will be prompted to archive your books.

  • Can an archived ebook be retrieved?

Yes. An image of the ebook still remains in the library section of the NSTA Reader. Select the “Download” button to place the ebook back on the NSTA Reader.
