Life thrives or perishes depending upon its ability to adapt to changes in the environment. Over time, living organisms develop adaptive strategies that enable them to meet the demands precipitated by those changes. In this section, students explore reproductive and feeding strategies, strategies for avoiding predators, strategies for rising to both short- and long-term environmental challenges, and adaptive behavioral strategies to biotic and abiotic conditions. As they conduct these investigations at the microscopic level, students will acquire an understanding of how organisms at all levels evolve strategies to adapt to environmental changes.
