Teaching evolution can be challenging whether you are a formal or informal educator. This chapter introduces information on visitor learning of evolution in informal education venues—particularly museums—and describes how we prepared volunteers to handle visitor concerns about evolution and what the volunteers found useful from our professional development session. Concrete strategies are outlined to use when facing potentially difficult interactions, with an emphasis on strategies that can also be used in the classroom. Teacher background information, references, and resources are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, About the Authors and Contributors, and Index.
