Rock-Solid Evidence

by: Jodi Wheeler-Toppen

Many students have never looked carefully at rocks. For this reason, looking closely at several different types of rocks is important for preparing them to learn about how rocks are classified. In this chapter, one goal is to help students see how identifying rocks can be useful, both in forensics and in using matching rocks to understand the history of Earth. The reading strategy featured here is “chunking”. A materials list, teacher background information, references, assessment, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Acknowledgments, About the Author, Image Credits, and Index.
